SBI Card Modifies Rewards Points Program, Reducing Points on Swiggy and Air India Bookings, and Eliminating Complimentary Insurance Coverage. Effective 2025.
SBI Card Rules: SBI Card has announced significant changes to its rewards points program, effective March and April 2025. These changes will result in a reduction of reward points earned on various online transactions and travel-related expenses. These changes will particularly affect users of the SimplyCLICK SBI Card, Air India SBI Platinum Credit Card, and Air India SBI Signature Credit Card. Cardholders should be aware of these changes to maximize their rewards points benefits.
Reduced Reward Points on Swiggy Expenses
SBI Card has reduced the reward points earned on expenses incurred on Swiggy. From April 1, 2025, transactions on Swiggy using the SimplyCLICK SBI Card will earn 5X reward points instead of the previous 10X reward points. However, this card will continue to offer 10X reward points on several other popular online shopping websites such as Apollo 24X7, BookMyShow, Cleartrip, Dominos, IGP, Myntra, Netmeds, and Yatra.
Reduction in Reward Points on Air India Tickets
SBI Card has also announced a reduction in reward points earned on Air India ticket purchases. From March 31, 2025, reward points earned on Air India tickets purchased through the Air India website or mobile app will be reduced for Air India SBI Platinum Credit Card and Air India SBI Signature Credit Card holders.
- Primary cardholders of the Air India SBI Platinum Credit Card will now earn only 5 reward points per ₹100 spent, down from the previous 15 points.
- Similarly, primary cardholders of the Air India SBI Signature Credit Card will now earn only 10 reward points per ₹100 spent, reduced from the previous 30 points.
End of Complimentary Insurance Coverage
SBI Card has decided to discontinue the complimentary insurance coverage offered to its cardholders. From July 26, 2025, the Air Accident Insurance cover (₹50 lakh) and Rail Accident Insurance cover (₹10 lakh) will be discontinued. This change will apply to all cardholders currently availing these insurance covers.
