Bank Holiday: Banks in some states will be closed on Friday, March 28th, 2025. If you have any urgent banking needs, please complete them beforehand. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has released a list of states where banking services will be affected. However, banks in other states will remain open, and customers can avail of normal services.
Which states will have bank closures? According to the RBI list, all government and private banks in Jammu and Srinagar will be closed on March 28th due to the Jumma-tul-Vida festival, observed by the Muslim community as the last Friday of Ramadan. On this day, people offer special prayers and seek blessings from Allah.
Banking services will continue in other states
Except for Jammu and Srinagar, banking services will continue normally in other states. If you reside outside these two states, you can avail of any bank-related services.
How many bank holidays are there in March?
According to the RBI, a total of 14 days of banking services will be disrupted in March 2025. This includes all Sundays and the second and fourth Saturdays.
March 28th: Banks will be closed in Jammu and Kashmir due to Jumma-tul-Vida.
March 30th: All banks will be closed nationwide due to Sunday.
March 31st: Banks will be closed in many states due to Eid-ul-Fitr. However, banking services will continue in Himachal Pradesh.
How to conduct essential banking transactions during bank holidays?
Even if your state has a bank holiday, you can still conduct many essential transactions using digital banking.
UPI and Online Banking: You can transfer money using UPI and internet banking. However, UPI allows a maximum of 20 transactions per day, up to a limit of ₹100,000.
ATM Services: You can use nearby ATMs to withdraw cash.
Online Services: Despite bank closures, many facilities can be availed through mobile banking apps, such as bill payments, fund transfers, and balance checks.
