John Cena Announces Retirement from WWE in 2025

WWE legend John Cena has officially announced his retirement from professional wrestling in 2025. This news has deeply moved his fans worldwide.

Sports News: John Cena has been one of the biggest and most beloved superstars in the WWE universe, but he is now moving towards retirement. After years of electrifying the ring, Cena recently embarked on a retirement tour, culminating in winning the Undisputed Championship at WrestleMania 41. In a recent appearance on Stephanie McMahon's show, Stephanie's Places, John Cena revealed his reasons for retiring in 2025.

He explained that his body is no longer the same and that the continuous physical strain requires him to prioritize his health. He also wishes to focus more on his personal life and family.

20 Years of Wrestling and Now Time for Farewell

John Cena debuted in WWE in 2002 and since then has captivated not only the wrestling ring but also the hearts of children, youth, and adults alike. A 16-time world champion, Cena made a triumphant return at WrestleMania 41, winning the Undisputed Championship, but he has now decided to step away from the sport.

The 48-year-old Cena stated, "I'm not the same anymore. My body can't do what it used to. I can't overhead press 375 pounds in the gym anymore. Both my strength and stamina have declined." He acknowledged that the physical demands of wrestling are no longer suitable for him.

'Every Time I Step into the Ring, It Feels Like a Struggle' - John Cena

John Cena explained that in recent years, each WWE return felt different. "When I step into the ring, I wonder if I'm living up to the audience's expectations? And the answer is often 'no'," he said. "Wrestling is my passion, but it's also a reality that my body can no longer handle the weight. Recovering from injuries is becoming increasingly difficult, and recovery time after each match is getting longer."

On Stephanie McMahon's show, Cena clarified that his decision is not solely due to physical fatigue, but also his desire to dedicate time to his personal life and family. "I want time to be with my loved ones, without a broken bone or pulled muscle. I dedicated a significant part of my life to WWE; now I want to dedicate it to my family," he said.

'Doctor of Thuganomics' Forged a Connection with Fans

Cena also shared that initially, he didn't receive the fan reception he hoped for. However, when he adopted his famous "Doctor of Thuganomics" persona, his connection with the audience blossomed. Stephanie McMahon played a crucial role in developing this character. He said, "That transformation was a turning point in my career. I found myself and felt a deep connection with the fans. I'll never forget that era."

Beyond wrestling, John Cena is renowned for his philanthropic work. He holds the record for granting the most wishes through the Make-A-Wish Foundation. "When a child wants to meet me and I can give them a smile, I feel my identity is not just as a wrestler but also as a human being," he said.
