Western Railway Announces Tejas Superfast Special Trains Between Mumbai and Gujarat

To address the rising passenger demand during the summer season, Western Railway has decided to operate Tejas Superfast Special trains from Mumbai to Gujarat. This includes the Mumbai-Rajkot and Mumbai-Gandhidham routes.

Tejas Special Train: In response to the increased demand for train travel and passenger convenience during the summer months, Indian Railways has taken another significant step. Western Railway will operate Tejas Superfast Special trains from Mumbai Central to two major cities in Gujarat—Rajkot and Gandhidham. Additionally, the frequency of some other special trains has been increased, providing passengers with greater travel ease. Why are Tejas Special Trains being operated?

Every summer, train congestion increases significantly, making it difficult for passengers to secure tickets. Keeping this in mind, the railway has decided to operate Tejas Special trains at a special fare. This will particularly benefit passengers traveling between Mumbai and Gujarat.

Mumbai Central-Rajkot Superfast Tejas Special Train (09005/09006)

Travel Dates and Schedule:

Train Number 09005 (Mumbai Central-Rajkot Special):

  • Will depart from Mumbai Central at 11:20 PM every Wednesday and Friday.
  • Will arrive in Rajkot at 11:45 AM the next day.
  • This train will operate from May 30th to June 27th, 2025.

Train Number 09006 (Rajkot-Mumbai Central Special):

  • Will depart from Rajkot at 6:30 PM every Thursday and Saturday.
  • Will arrive in Mumbai Central at 7:30 AM the next day.
  • This train will operate from May 31st to June 28th, 2025.

Major Stations En Route:

Borivali, Vapi, Surat, Vadodara, Anand, Ahmedabad, Viramgam, Surendranagar, and Wankaner.

Coach Amenities:

  • First AC, AC 2-tier, and AC 3-tier coaches will be available.

Mumbai Central-Gandhidham Superfast Tejas Special Train (09017/09018)

Travel Dates and Schedule:

Train Number 09017 (Mumbai Central-Gandhidham Special):

  • Will depart from Mumbai Central at 11:20 PM every Monday.
  • Will arrive in Gandhidham at 12:55 PM the next day.
  • This train will operate from June 2nd to June 30th, 2025.

Train Number 09018 (Gandhidham-Mumbai Central Special):

  • Will depart from Gandhidham at 6:55 PM every Tuesday.
  • Will arrive in Mumbai Central at 7:30 AM the next day.
  • This train will operate from June 3rd to July 1st, 2025.

Major Stations En Route:

Borivali, Vapi, Surat, Vadodara, Anand, Ahmedabad, Viramgam, Samakhiyali, and Bhachau.

Increased Frequency of Some Trains

Western Railway has increased the operation of some other special trains for passenger convenience:

  • Udhna-Jaynagar Unreserved Special (09067): Extended until June 29th, 2025.
  • Jaynagar-Udhna Unreserved Special (09068): Extended until June 30th, 2025.
  • Udhna-Samastipur Special (09069): Extended until June 28th, 2025.
  • Samastipur-Udhna Special (09070): Extended until June 30th, 2025.

Booking Information:

Bookings for train numbers 09005, 09006, 09017, and 09018 will commence on May 25th, 2025. Bookings for the extended run of train number 09069 will begin on May 27th, 2025. Bookings can be made at all PRS counters or on the official IRCTC website, www.irctc.co.in.
