Last Updated: 1 day ago

Aurangabad Police to Implement Paperless Investigations from July 1st.

Starting July 1st, 2025, Aurangabad Police will implement a fully computerized and paperless system for all First Information Reports (FIRs) across all police stations. All investigators will conduct investigations online using laptops. A training session was conducted at the Superintendent of Police office to instruct investigators on the new procedure.

Laptop Training and Evidence Collection at the Scene of Crime

The training session informed investigators that all investigations will be computerized from July 1st. Evidence collected at crime scenes will be stored digitally on laptops, eliminating the manual filing of charge sheets. Charge sheets will be filed online, and judges will be able to access the police investigation and charge sheets online.

New System Integrated with CCTNS and its Benefits

This new system integrates all police stations with the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network & Systems (CCTNS), enabling the effective implementation of paperless investigations. The police headquarters will also be able to monitor computerized investigations from their office. This step will enhance transparency and efficiency in police operations.

Laptops Provided to Most Investigators

However, investigators over 55 years of age will not receive laptops and will not participate in computerized investigations. Furthermore, investigators who haven't completed their probationary period will also be excluded. Laptops have only been provided to investigators who have completed their probation.

Statement by Police Officer

Shweta Kumari, the District Police's Internet Media In-charge, stated, "From July 1st, all investigators must conduct computerized investigations, and laptops have been provided for this purpose. This process will help make police operations digital and transparent."

Benefits of Computerized Investigations:

Faster and more transparent investigations: Online evidence and case tracking.

Reduced paperwork: Elimination of manual documentation.

Timely and efficient process: Easier information access and reporting for both courts and police.
