Bihar Budget Session: The Bihar Legislative Assembly proceedings were adjourned until Monday morning at 11 am amidst a significant uproar on Friday. The opposition vehemently protested in the house, accusing Chief Minister Nitish Kumar of disrespecting the national anthem. The issue escalated from the streets to the assembly, with opposition leaders demanding an apology from the Chief Minister. Both houses of the Bihar legislature witnessed intense disruptions on this account.
Uproar Continues from Morning to Afternoon
The session began at 11 am, but opposition parties started protesting against Nitish Kumar, leading to an adjournment of the house proceedings until 2 pm. Even after the resumption, opposition leaders continued their protests. Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) member Sunil Singh raised questions on the matter, which were answered by Janata Dal United (JD(U)) MLC Neeraj Kumar.
Proceedings Disrupted by the Uproar
The uproar continued in both the Legislative Assembly and the Legislative Council. In the upper house, Rabri Devi, and in the lower house, Leader of the Opposition Tejashwi Yadav, bly raised the issue of the alleged disrespect to the national anthem. They also criticized the government for the deteriorating law and order situation in the state. The opposition alleged that the government and the ruling party were preventing them from speaking.
Tejashwi Yadav stated that incidents of murder, kidnapping, and robbery are increasing in Bihar. However, when the opposition attempts to raise these issues in the house, they are prevented from doing so. Rabri Devi stated that Nitish Kumar has insulted the nation and should publicly apologize, terming it an anti-national act.
Ruling Party Counters
Amidst the opposition's attacks, the ruling party retaliated. JD(U) leader Vijay Chaudhary stated in the house that questioning Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's patriotism is inappropriate. He asserted that Nitish Kumar has always worked for the development of the nation and the state. He accused the opposition of unnecessarily escalating the issue and claimed that making baseless allegations against the government has become the opposition's strategy.
