BSP Unveils Strategy for 2027 Uttar Pradesh Elections: Targeting OBCs to Reclaim Power
Last Updated: 18 hour ago

The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) in Uttar Pradesh has begun formulating its strategy for the 2027 Assembly elections. With less than two years remaining, BSP chief Mayawati has made a significant political move.

Lucknow: Keeping the 2027 Assembly elections in mind, the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) has implemented a major shift in its strategy. Party chief Mayawati has announced a comprehensive campaign to unite Dalits with Other Backward Classes (OBCs). A ‘Bhaichara Committee’ (Brotherhood Committee) has been formed to strengthen the party's social equation.

Focus on OBC Vote Bank

In a crucial meeting held on Tuesday, the BSP strategized on firmly integrating the OBC community into the party's organization. Party leaders believe that a Dalit-OBC alliance is crucial for a return to power. This is why the BSP has decided to reactivate the Bhaichara Committee to consolidate its social equation.

Previously Formed Committees

This is not a novel strategy. Bhaichara Committees were also formed in 2007 when the BSP came to power. However, these committees became inactive after the party lost power in 2012. Now, the party has decided to strengthen these committees again to consolidate the OBC community alongside the Dalit and Muslim vote banks.

Preparing to Obtain the 'Master Key' to Power

A statement released by the BSP says the party is preparing to "obtain the master key to power through the strength of votes by organizing all sections of the Bahujan Samaj." This involves activating booth-level committees and raising awareness among the public by portraying the Congress, BJP, and SP as "anti-Dalit and anti-backward caste" parties.

Major Event on April 14th

Mayawati, targeting the BJP, Congress, and SP, stated that these parties have consistently neglected the interests of the OBC and Dalit communities. She instructed party workers to celebrate Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Jayanti on April 14th with complete missionary zeal. Large-scale events will be organized, focusing on connecting Dalit and backward caste people with the BSP's policies.
