Mahakumbh Stampede: Prayagraj is overflowing with devotees on the sacred bathing festival of Mauni Amavasya. Millions have flocked to the Mahakumbh mela to take a holy dip in the Sangam. Considering the massive crowd, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and prominent saints have appealed to devotees to exercise restraint and follow administrative directives.

CM Yogi's Appeal to Devotees

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath urged devotees to bathe at the nearest ghat and avoid going towards the Sangam. He stated that the administration has created numerous ghats for bathing, where it's easy to perform the ritual. He also appealed to devotees to ignore rumors and cooperate in the smooth operation of the mela.

Religious Leaders' Request – Forgo the Sangam Dip

Besides CM Yogi, several religious leaders also appealed to the devotees.

Swami Rambhadracharya stated that devotees should forgo the urge to bathe in the Sangam and instead bathe at the nearest ghats. He appealed to everyone to cooperate with the administration and bathe safely.

Baba Ramdev explained that he performed only a symbolic bath considering the large crowd. He added, "We should not get carried away by excessive devotion and should bathe cautiously, following self-discipline."

Acharya Mahamandaleshwar Swami Avadheshanand Giri of the Juna Akhada also stated that he performed only a symbolic bath and appealed to devotees to exercise restraint.

Devotees' Safety Paramount – Akhara Parishad

Ravindra Puri, the president of the Akhara Parishad, said that over 12 crore devotees are currently present in Prayagraj. Managing such a large crowd is challenging, but the administration and the saints of the Akhadas are working together to maintain order. He emphasized that the safety of the devotees is paramount, and everyone should follow the administration's advice.

Final Request – Maintain Restraint and Discipline

Considering the massive crowd at the Mahakumbh, the administration and saints unanimously appealed to devotees to maintain restraint and discipline. They requested adherence to safety regulations during bathing and urged against unnecessarily increasing the crowd in the Sangam area.
