New Delhi: Delhi's Chief Minister Rekha Gupta stated on Saturday that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government's budget for fiscal year 2025-26 will focus on key initiatives including women's economic empowerment, improved education and healthcare services, robust infrastructure, pollution control, and improved drainage systems. The government is prioritizing the necessary policies and resources to bring about comprehensive improvements in these areas.
A Budget Shaped by Public Participation
The Chief Minister explained that this year's budget has been prepared keeping public opinion in mind. The government received 3,303 suggestions via email and 6,982 via WhatsApp, which have been incorporated into the budget. The budget session will run from March 24th to 28th, commencing on Monday with the traditional ‘Kheer Samaroh’ ceremony.
What will be the Budget's Key Focus Areas?
Chief Minister Gupta explained that this budget has been prepared with the vision of a ‘Developed Delhi’ in mind. This year, the following key areas will receive attention:
* Women's Economic Empowerment: Special schemes will be provided to women for self-employment and entrepreneurship. Women's safety and welfare programs will be further strengthened.
* Improved Education System: Digital learning, smart classrooms, and teacher training programs will be launched in government schools.
* Healthcare Improvements: Additional budget will be allocated to hospitals and Mohalla Clinics to make healthcare accessible and affordable.
* Infrastructure Development: Emphasis will be placed on road repairs, flyovers, and the construction of new transport networks.
* Pollution Control: New policies will be introduced to promote clean air and green energy.
* Drainage System: A modern drainage system will be developed to address waterlogging issues during the rainy season.
* Job Creation: New job opportunities for youth will be created by promoting startups, small industries, and the digital economy.
BJP Government Committed to ‘Developed Delhi’
CM Gupta stated that the Delhi government is working towards realizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of a ‘Developed Delhi’ through this budget. She said the government is committed to making Delhi a financially b, modern, and convenient city. Sharp questioning and opposition from opposition parties during the budget session are also anticipated.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Congress have already targeted the government over pollution, inflation, and lack of basic amenities in Delhi. It will be interesting to see how the political equations unfold after the budget is presented.
