Last Updated: 08-04-2025

The Delhi government has revoked all political appointments made to committees, boards, and academies during the AAP tenure. These bodies will now be reconstituted with new appointments.

New Delhi: The Delhi government led by Rekha Gupta has taken the significant step of revoking all political appointments made to various committees, boards, and academies during the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)'s tenure. This move is being undertaken as part of an administrative restructuring and transparency initiative.

AAP MLAs Removed from Boards and Committees

The government has terminated the tenures of all nominated members of constitutional and non-constitutional bodies, authorities, boards, and committees. This includes several former and current AAP MLAs.

Impact on these Bodies

The affected bodies include significant institutions such as the Delhi State Haj Committee, the Pilgrimage Development Committee, the Delhi Jal Board, the Delhi Agricultural Marketing Board, the Gram Vikas Board, and the Animal Welfare Board.

Changes in Academies as well

The government has also issued orders to remove all nominated members from institutions related to literature and language, including the Hindi Academy, Urdu Academy, Punjabi Academy, Sahitya Kala Parishad, Maithili Bhojpuri Academy, and the Garhwali- Kumauni- Jaunsari Academy.

Stricter Scrutiny of Political Appointments

The state government believes that many appointments made during the AAP government's tenure were driven by political interests, thereby affecting the functioning of these institutions. These bodies will now be reconstituted with the appointment of impartial and professional members.
