Traffic Regulations in Delhi for Republic Day Parade Rehearsals on January 17, 18, 20, and 21. Several Routes Closed; Use Alternative Routes.
Traffic Advisory: India celebrates Republic Day on January 26th nationwide. A grand parade is held in the capital city, Delhi, to mark this occasion. However, rehearsals are conducted prior to the parade. On January 17th, 18th, 20th, and 21st, certain traffic regulations will be in effect in Delhi due to these rehearsals.
Affected Routes and Timings
During the rehearsals, traffic will be closed from 10:15 AM to 12:30 AM on the following routes:
- Kartavya Path to Rafi Marg crossing.
- Kartavya Path to Janpath crossing.
- Kartavya Path to Man Singh Road crossing.
- Kartavya Path to C-Hexagon.
Alternative Routes from North to South Delhi
The Delhi Traffic Police has suggested alternative routes for travel from North Delhi to South Delhi and vice-versa:
- Ring Road – Sarai Kale Khan – IP Flyover – Rajghat.
- Lajpat Rai Marg – Mathura Road – Bhairol Road – Ring Road.
- Aurobindo Marg – Safdarjung Road – Kamal Ataturk Marg – Sardar Patel Marg – Mother Teresa Crescent – RML – Baba Kharag Singh Marg.
- Prithviraj Road – Rajesh Pilot Marg – Ring Road – Subramaniam Bharti Marg – Mathura Road – Bhairol Road.
- Barakhamba – Ojha Market – Rani Jhansi Flyover – Panchkuian Road – Hanuman Murti – Vande Mataram Marg – Dhaula Kuan.
Alternative Routes from East to West Delhi
The following routes are suggested for travel from East Delhi to West Delhi and vice-versa:
- Ring Road – Bhairol Road – Mathura Road – Subramaniam Bharti Marg – Rajesh Pilot Marg – Prithviraj Road – Safdarjung Road – Kamal Ataturk Marg – Panchsheel Marg – Simon Bolivar Marg – Upper Ridge Road – Vande Mataram Marg.

The Delhi Police advises citizens to follow the traffic advisory and allow extra travel time during these days. Avoid the routes where traffic will be closed and use alternative routes.
