After excluding Kanpur from SCR, the government has now decided to develop it under KRIPA (Regional Development Authority). Ten districts will be included, expanding healthcare, industrial, and transportation facilities.

Kanpur News: The Uttar Pradesh government has initiated the process of forming a Regional Development Authority (KRIPA) for the comprehensive development of Kanpur and surrounding districts. The Special Secretary of the Urban Development Department has directed the formation of a committee under the chairmanship of the Kanpur Divisional Commissioner. This committee will prepare a report by studying the maps, population, economic activities, and infrastructure of these districts. The aim is to collectively promote the development of these areas.

Districts Included in KRIPA

KRIPA will be modeled on the lines of Delhi NCR. It will include the districts of Unnao, Rae Bareli, Fatehpur, Auraiya, Etawah, Hamirpur, Kalpi, Orai, Kannauj, and Farrukhabad. The Divisional High-Level Development Committee, chaired by the Divisional Commissioner, had prepared the framework for KRIPA, considering the geographical locations of these districts. This committee submitted a proposal to the state government, which is now being implemented.

Development Plans Around the Ring Road

The initial report of KRIPA includes development plans around the ring road. This includes the construction of hospitals, trauma centers, industrial areas, bus stops, railway stations, and metro connectivity. These steps will improve Kanpur's healthcare, transportation, and industrial sectors, leading to development in the surrounding districts as well.

Significance of KRIPA

Divisional Commissioner K. Vijendra Pandian stated that Kanpur's identity as an industrial city is well-established, and the development of this region is essential. This step is being taken to meet the needs and provide facilities for the next 50 years. KRIPA will ensure the organized participation of these districts, contributing significantly to the development of the urban area.

Improvement in Economic and Social Contributions

Neeraj Srivastava, Coordinator of the Divisional High-Level Development Committee, explained that Kanpur makes significant contributions to education, business, industry, medical services, entertainment, and air and rail travel. The formation of KRIPA will accelerate development in these sectors, and the contribution of surrounding districts will be systematically integrated into Kanpur's economy.
