Following the incident, police arrived on the scene, dispersed the rioters, and detained several individuals. Two FIRs have been registered – one filed by the MP's son and another by the police.
How the Attack Unfolded?
The incident is reportedly linked to a statement made by Samajwadi Party MP Ramjilal Suman in the parliament. Hundreds of Karni Sena activists, angered by his statement, arrived at the MP's Agra residence from Kuberpur in cars, motorcycles, and even a bulldozer. While police attempted to stop them, the activists broke through barricades and proceeded.
Vandalism and Violence
The Karni Sena activists created a ruckus outside the MP's ADA flat in Sanjay Place.
They attempted to break down the colony gate.
They pelted stones at the house, shattering windows and doors.
They targeted six or more vehicles belonging to the MP and other party leaders, smashing their windows.
Chairs and other belongings were also damaged.
Family Under Threat
While MP Ramjilal Suman was in Delhi at the time of the attack, his son and former MLA Ranjeet Suman was at home along with his wife and other sons. The family locked themselves inside during the attack. Ranjeet Suman stated that the attackers arrived suddenly and launched their assault.
