Nagpur Violence: Minority Democratic Party Leader Fahim Shamim Identified as Mastermind
A major revelation has emerged from the FIR filed at Ganeshpeth Police Station regarding the violence in Nagpur. According to the FIR, Fahim Shamim Khan, the city president of the Minority Democratic Party (MDP), has been identified as the mastermind behind the incident. He is accused of illegally gathering a group of 50-60 people and instigating the riots.
Violence Erupts Following Vishva Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal Protest
The violence erupted following a protest by the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal. The organizations protested near the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj statue at Gandhi Gate, raising slogans against Aurangzeb's tomb and burning a symbolic effigy of Aurangzeb. Following this, a large crowd gathered under the leadership of Fahim Shamim.
In response to this protest, several individuals, led by Fahim Shamim, submitted a memorandum to the police. Consequently, an FIR (number 114/25) was filed against nine individuals under sections 223, 37(1), 37(3), and 135 of the Indian Penal Code. Despite this, a large number of people were gathered to incite violence.
Mob of 400-500 People Conspires to Riot
Despite repeated warnings from the administration, a mob of 400-500 people gathered near the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj statue around 4 pm. Police made public announcements urging the crowd to disperse and return home, but these efforts were unsuccessful.
This mob possessed axes, stones, sticks, and other dangerous weapons, which they brandished to create panic. The accused conspired to incite communal enmity and disrupt social harmony.
Attack on Police
The mob attacked the police force deployed in the Bhaldarpura Chowk area. They attempted to stop, intimidate, and beat the police officers.
- Petrol bombs were thrown with the intent to kill.
- Stone pelting and attacks with sticks and rods occurred.
- Attempts were made to provoke police officers with abusive language.
- False rumors were spread that the police had deliberately hurt the sentiments of a particular community.
Several police officers were injured in this violence, and their safety was seriously jeopardized.
Assault on Women Police Officers Under the Cover of Darkness
During the violence, unruly elements misbehaved with women police officers. According to the FIR:
- A female constable's uniform was pulled.
- Attempts were made to commit indecent acts.
- Lewd comments and gestures were made towards women police officers.
- Attempts were made to touch the women's bodies inappropriately.
This incident has shaken the police administration, and strict action is being taken against the culprits.
