New Delhi: The 88-kilometer-long greenfield expressway from Dholpur to Agra will connect Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Rajasthan. The project, estimated to cost ₹4612.65 crore, is expected to begin in November 2025 and be completed by 2028. The expressway will reduce the travel time between Gwalior and Agra to just 90 minutes. Areas like Dimni, Abah, and Porasa will significantly benefit from this development.
Gwalior to Agra in Just 90 Minutes
The central government is constructing an 88.4-kilometer-long greenfield expressway to facilitate faster and smoother travel between Gwalior and Agra. This road will pass through Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Rajasthan, benefiting all three states in terms of transportation and trade. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has awarded the construction contract to a company from Udaipur. Construction is likely to begin in November 2025, with the project expected to be completed by 2028.
Dimni, Abah, and Porasa to Reap Significant Benefits
This six-lane expressway will utilize land from 14 villages in UP, 18 in Rajasthan, and 30 in MP. The road will commence from Niravli Tiraha in Gwalior and connect with the Agra-Lucknow Expressway. An interchange will also be constructed near Kota to connect it with the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway. The project also includes the repair of National Highway 44, which already connects Gwalior to Agra.
This expressway will halve the travel time between Gwalior and Agra. Currently, the journey takes approximately three hours, but after the expressway's completion, it will be reduced to just 90 minutes. Rural areas like Dimni, Abah, and Porasa will benefit significantly, as residents currently have to travel approximately 130 kilometers to reach Agra. This journey will be reduced to just 90 minutes.
₹4612 Crore Cost, State-of-the-Art Amenities
The total cost of the expressway is estimated at ₹4,612.65 crore. It will include several modern amenities, such as:
- 42 underpasses,
- 8 major bridges and 23 minor bridges,
- 5 elevated viaducts,
- 6 flyovers,
- 1 railway overbridge.
Furthermore, a GPS-based toll system and an advanced traffic management system will be implemented for safety and efficiency. Vehicles on the expressway will be able to travel at a speed of 100 kilometers per hour, saving both time and fuel.
