Due to the massive crowds anticipated at Sangam Railway Station during the Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj, the administration has decided to keep it closed until February 28th. Alternative transportation arrangements have been made for passengers.

Prayagraj: Given the immense crowds gathered in Prayagraj during the Kumbh Mela, Prayagraj Sangam Railway Station has been closed until February 28th. The District Magistrate (DM) has written a letter to the Divisional Railway Manager, noting the extremely large influx of devotees and bathers participating in the Kumbh Mela.

To ensure their safe and orderly travel, it has become necessary to halt passenger movement from Daraganj railway station from February 17th to February 28th, 2025. The letter also states that if the crowd pressure persists, the closure period may be extended.

DM Ravindra Kumar Closes Sangam Railway Station Until February 28th

Prayagraj's DM, Ravindra Kumar Mandar, has requested the Divisional Railway Manager to keep the Daraganj, or Prayagraj Sangam, Railway Station closed to passenger traffic from February 17th to 28th. Located in the Daraganj area of the Kumbh Mela, Sangam Railway Station is the closest railway station to the mela grounds. RPF and GRP personnel stationed there have also been instructed to remain on high alert in view of the crowds.

A large number of devotees are arriving for the Kumbh Mela, even before Maha Shivratri, leading to long queues of vehicles both inside and outside Prayagraj city. On Sunday, the holiday resulted in traffic congestion in and around the city, but the traffic management system is currently functioning smoothly. The UP DGP also reported that traffic is flowing without any disruptions on the roads surrounding Prayagraj for the Kumbh Mela.
