Bengaluru Stampede: A massive stampede outside Bengaluru's Chinnaswamy Stadium during a celebration for RCB's victory claimed the lives of 11 people and injured 56 others. The first arrest in the case has been made. Police apprehended Nikhil Soansle, RCB's marketing head, at Bengaluru airport. The investigation has been handed over to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), and a case of culpable homicide not amounting to murder has been registered against the accused.

IPL Victory Celebration Turns Tragic

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) won the Indian Premier League (IPL) title for the first time this year, sparking immense excitement across Bengaluru. A large event was organized outside Chinnaswamy Stadium on Wednesday to celebrate this victory. Organizers invited fans through social media and other channels, resulting in a massive crowd of lakhs gathering outside the stadium.

Investigation Handed Over to CID Following the Incident

Given the severity of the incident, the Karnataka government transferred the investigation to the state's Criminal Investigation Department (CID). Chief Minister Siddaramaiah expressed grief over the incident and ordered strict action. He instructed officials to take b legal action against those responsible.

Arrest of RCB Marketing Head

Following the government's orders, police swiftly made the first arrest. Royal Challengers Bangalore's marketing head, Nikhil Soansle, was arrested at Bengaluru airport. Reports suggest he was preparing to leave the city when apprehended and brought to the Cubbon Park police station.

Soansle is accused of playing a key role in organizing the event and neglecting essential safety measures. This arrest signals that no responsible individual will be spared in this matter.

Three Others Detained

Police have also detained three other individuals involved in the stampede. These individuals are being questioned and are associated with the event management company and other organizations connected to the event. Police are investigating who authorized the event and at what levels negligence occurred.

Event Held Without Permission

The most serious aspect of this case is that the event was organized without the necessary government permissions. The FIR filed at Cubbon Park police station clearly states that RCB, DNA Entertainment Private Limited, and the Karnataka State Cricket Association organized the event without permission.

The FIR names RCB as the primary accused (accused number 1), the event management company DNA Entertainment as accused number 2, and the Karnataka State Cricket Association as accused number 3. They are all charged with culpable homicide not amounting to murder (IPC Section 304) and negligence of public safety.
