After a long wait of 12 days, Delhi finally has a new Chief Minister. Rekha Gupta, a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA, was sworn in by LG Vinai Kumar Saxena.

New Delhi: Following the BJP's return to power in Delhi after 27 years, the swearing-in ceremony for the new government took place today (February 20). Rekha Gupta's swearing-in ceremony concluded the wait for a new Chief Minister following the Delhi Assembly election results. Gupta, dressed in a saffron sari, became Delhi's fourth female Chief Minister, following Atishi, Sheila Dikshit, and Sushma Swaraj.

Rekha Gupta is the MLA from Shalimar Bagh Assembly constituency. She defeated three-time Aam Aadmi Party MLA Bandana Kumari by a significant margin. Her victory marks a new chapter in Delhi's politics, signifying the BJP's return to power after 27 years.

Ministers Sworn in Alongside Rekha Gupta

Following Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, other members of the cabinet were sworn in by LG Vinai Kumar Saxena at the BJP government's swearing-in ceremony in Delhi. Pervesh Verma took the oath first, followed by Ashish Sood, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Ravinder Singh Indraj, Kapil Mishra, and Pankaj Singh. Their names were officially announced in a gazette notification earlier this morning.

The allocation of portfolios to the ministers will be announced shortly after the swearing-in. The BJP has paid particular attention to balancing representation from the Jat, Punjabi, and Purvanchal communities in this cabinet. The swearing-in ceremony was held at Delhi's historic Ramlila Maidan, attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, members of the Union Cabinet, Chief Ministers and Deputy Chief Ministers of BJP-ruled states, MPs, leaders of NDA alliance parties, and approximately 50,000 leaders, workers, and supporters.
