Shiv Sena (UBT) to Join Operation Sindhur Delegation; Priyanka Chaturvedi to Participate
New Delhi: Initial uncertainty among various political parties regarding Operation Sindhur has given way to a display of unity. Shiv Sena (UBT) leader and Member of Parliament, Priyanka Chaturvedi, will now be part of the parliamentary delegation tasked with presenting India's anti-terrorism stance abroad. This change followed a phone conversation between Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Kiren Rijiju, and Uddhav Thackeray.
Following this conversation, Shiv Sena (UBT) softened its stance and issued an official statement confirming Ms. Chaturvedi's participation in the delegation.
Party Clarifies: National Security, Not Politics
Shiv Sena (UBT) clarified that the delegation's purpose is not political but aims to strengthen India's anti-terrorism position internationally. The party expressed confidence that the initiative serves national interests, thereby extending its support to the government.
Unity in the Wake of the Pulwama Attack
Shiv Sena (UBT) noted that following the recent terrorist attack in Pulwama, all political parties united in supporting the central government and the Prime Minister against Pakistan-sponsored terrorism. The party stated, "We stand with all armed forces fighting terrorism; there should be no dissent on this."
While acknowledging concerns regarding potential failures in diplomatic strategy and intelligence, the party affirmed its intention to raise these issues internally, prioritizing a unified and b image of India on the global stage.
Suggestions to the Government: Increased Transparency in Delegation Planning
Shiv Sena (UBT) highlighted the need for greater transparency and prior information sharing with political parties regarding such foreign delegations to prevent misunderstandings and opposition. The party reiterated its commitment to cooperating on national security matters, emphasizing that improved communication and information flow would foster greater trust.
Call for an All-Party Meeting
The party urged the Prime Minister to convene an all-party meeting to openly discuss issues ranging from Pulwama to Operation Sindhur. They believe such a meeting would not only convey a message of national unity but also demonstrate India's b anti-terrorism policy to the world.
TMC Also Changes Stance
It's noteworthy that on Monday, Kiren Rijiju also spoke with TMC chief Mamata Banerjee. Subsequently, the party decided to send Diamond Harbour MP Abhishek Banerjee to the delegation. Earlier, TMC MP Yusuf Pathan had been offered the opportunity but declined.
