West Bengal Teacher Recruitment Cancellation Sparks Political Row; Rahul Gandhi Seeks Presidential Intervention, Students Call Mamata's Actions a 'Lollipop'.

Teacher Recruitment Case: The recently cancelled teacher recruitment process in West Bengal has taken a new political turn. While the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) continues its attack on the Mamata Banerjee government, Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, has also taken up the issue seriously. He has written to President Droupadi Murmu, seeking her intervention to ensure justice for deserving teachers.

Rahul Gandhi Appeals to President for Intervention

In his letter, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi stated that a delegation from the Teacher Education Rights Forum contacted him, requesting the President's intervention. He mentioned that the cancellation of the recruitment process by the judiciary has left thousands of qualified teachers jobless and deeply disheartened.

SC and HC Verdicts Increase Teachers' Anxiety

The Calcutta High Court and subsequently the Supreme Court, found significant irregularities in the recruitment process and cancelled it. However, the verdicts also acknowledged that some candidates were selected fairly. Rahul Gandhi argued that treating these innocent teachers the same as those involved in wrongdoing is unjust.

'Punish the Guilty, but Uphold Justice for the Innocent'

Rahul Gandhi wrote in his letter: “Those responsible for irregularities in the recruitment process should be punished, but dismissing teachers who were selected fairly is a grave injustice. Such individuals should be reinstated.”

Impact on Students' Education

He also warned that removing qualified and innocent teachers would negatively impact the education of millions of students, weakening the education system and demoralizing teachers.

Hope for Justice from the President

Rahul Gandhi appealed to the President to understand this humanitarian crisis and provide relief to the fairly selected teachers. He urged the government to reconsider the situation and reinstate the innocent teachers to their positions.
