Northern India Weather: Shifting Patterns Bring Heat, Storms, and Rain

Weather patterns have shifted once again across northern India. While Delhi, after a brief respite, is expected to experience increased humidity and heat, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan are under warning for b winds and rain.

Weather Forecast: Northern India, including Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Bihar, and Uttarakhand, has experienced a sudden change in weather patterns. Intermittent rain has brought relief from the heat in some areas, while b winds and storms have caused difficulties in others. Although these events are considered pre-monsoon activity, meteorologists believe this relief will be short-lived. Temperatures are expected to rise again in the coming days.

Delhi-NCR: Heat Subsided, but Relief Temporary

Intermittent rain over the past two days in Delhi-NCR has lowered temperatures. While temperatures exceeded 40°C last week, the maximum temperature is now around 35°C. According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), light rain with thunderstorms is expected in the capital on June 4th. The maximum temperature is likely to be around 35°C and the minimum around 23°C.

However, this respite may end after June 5th. The Meteorological Department predicts a temperature increase from June 5th onwards. Between June 6th and 8th, the maximum temperature could reach 39°C, while the minimum temperature may remain around 26-27°C. During this period, the weather will be clear, and hot winds may return.

Uttar Pradesh: Warning for Strong Winds and Rain in Several Districts

Weather patterns have changed again in Uttar Pradesh. Strong winds and thunderstorms are expected, particularly in the eastern parts of the state. Gusts of 50-60 km/h are possible in approximately 20 districts, including Banda, Chitrakoot, Prayagraj, Fatehpur, Pratapgarh, Varanasi, Jaunpur, and Mirzapur.

Cloudy skies and light drizzle have prevailed in Lucknow since morning, significantly lowering temperatures. People have received some respite from the intense heat, but caution is advised due to the possibility of lightning and b winds.

Rajasthan: Storm and Rain Alert for 31 Districts

The Meteorological Department has issued a storm and rain warning for 31 districts in Rajasthan. An orange alert has been declared for 21 districts, where heavy rain and winds up to 60 km/h are possible. The weather may deteriorate in the afternoon in districts such as Jaipur, Alwar, Bundi, Kota, Bhilwara, Jhunjhunu, Sawai Madhopur, and Bikaner.

A yellow alert has been issued for 10 other districts, with a likelihood of moderate rain. Farmers and the general public are advised to exercise caution based on weather information.

Bihar: Heavy Rain Before Monsoon

The monsoon is expected to arrive in Bihar between June 10th and 15th. Rainfall is predicted to be approximately 11% above normal this year. The current rainfall is considered pre-monsoon activity. Heavy rain with thunderstorms is possible in districts such as Kishanganj, Araria, Purnia, Saharsa, Darbhanga, and Sitamarhi.

Wind speeds may reach 30-50 km/h. The low-pressure area and cyclonic activity developing in the Bay of Bengal are increasing the risk of heavy rainfall in eastern Bihar.

Uttarakhand: Heavy Rain Brings Relief

Pre-monsoon activity has intensified in Uttarakhand. Heavy rain is expected in districts such as Dehradun, Pauri, Tehri, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Nainital, and Pithoragarh. The Meteorological Department has issued alerts for nine districts. Water sources in the Bugyal area of Devals block in Chamoli district have been affected by the rainfall. Instructions have been given to exercise caution at tourist sites for safety reasons.
