Jasprit Bumrah has achieved his third 5-wicket haul in an innings on the current tour of Australia, marking another significant milestone in his career. During the Boxing Day Test match, Bumrah showcased his bowling prowess in the second innings of the Australian team, also achieving several important records.

Sports News: Jasprit Bumrah delivered a remarkable performance in the Boxing Day Test match at the end of 2024, securing 5 wickets in the second innings of the Australian team at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). On the fourth day of the match, he not only completed 200 wickets in his Test cricket career but also broke several old records and set new ones.

Bumrah has now become the first Asian bowler to take a 5-wicket haul in an innings four times in a year in SENA (South Africa, England, New Zealand, and Australia) countries.

Bumrah Surpasses Anil Kumble

Jasprit Bumrah has achieved another major feat in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia. Bumrah has now become the bowler with the most 5-wicket hauls in an innings, for the 7th time in this series, thus breaking Anil Kumble's record from 1998, when he had taken the most wickets in an innings 6 times in a series.

Furthermore, Bumrah has equaled Anil Kumble's record for the most 5-wicket hauls in an innings in Test cricket in Australia. Bumrah is now only one step behind Kapil Dev's record, who leads in terms of 5-wicket hauls in an innings in Test matches against Australia.

Major Milestone Achieved at Melbourne Cricket Ground

Jasprit Bumrah has achieved another historic feat in Test cricket at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). He has now become the third-highest wicket-taker among foreign bowlers at this stadium, with a total of 24 wickets in 3 matches. The list is topped by former England player Sydney Barnes, who took a total of 35 wickets in 5 matches at the MCG.

Additionally, Bumrah has become the second Indian bowler after Bishan Singh Bedi to take 30 or more wickets in an away Test series. Bishan Singh Bedi took a total of 31 wickets in the 1977-78 tour of Australia, while Bumrah has now taken 30 wickets in this series.

Bumrah is now the fourth Indian bowler to take 5 wickets in an innings twice in Test cricket at the MCG. Previously, BS Chandrasekhar, Kapil Dev, and Anil Kumble have achieved this feat.
