Sports News: In the 22nd match of IPL 2025, Punjab Kings' 24-year-old young batsman, Priyansh Arya, delivered a spectacular performance, wreaking havoc against Chennai Super Kings with the bat. Arya, batting aggressively, completed his half-century in just 19 balls and then reached his century in a further 20 balls. He achieved his maiden IPL century off a total of 39 balls, creating history.

With this magnificent innings, Priyansh Arya became the second-fastest Indian batsman to score a century in IPL history. The record for the fastest century by an Indian remains with Yusuf Pathan, who achieved the feat in 37 balls against Mumbai Indians in 2010.

A Debut Season to Remember

Playing his debut season in the IPL, Priyansh Arya proved himself a big-stage player. Against Chennai's b bowling attack, he batted fearlessly, smashing 7 fours and 9 towering sixes in his innings. He played a whirlwind 103 runs off 42 balls. This century made him the second-fastest Indian to score a century in IPL history, after Yusuf Pathan, who achieved the feat in 37 balls against Mumbai Indians in 2010.

Priyansh Arya first came into prominence after hitting six consecutive sixes in an over during the Delhi Premier League (DPL). In that tournament, he scored 608 runs in 10 matches, including 2 centuries and 43 sixes. His batting style marked him as a rising star.

Punjab's Crore-Rupee Bid

Following his impressive domestic performance, several teams bid for him at the IPL 2025 mega auction, but ultimately Punjab Kings secured him for ₹3.8 crore. This faith is now proving completely justified. Interestingly, this young Delhi player was coached by Sanjay Bharadwaj, the guru of Gautam Gambhir. Bharadwaj, the coach who mentored stars like Gambhir, has now nurtured another rising star.
