Suryakumar Yadav Sets New World Record in T20 Cricket

Mumbai Indians' star batsman, Suryakumar Yadav, has set a new world record in T20 cricket. He achieved this by scoring 25 or more runs in 14 consecutive innings, surpassing South Africa's Temba Bavuma's record of 13 consecutive innings set in 2019-20.

Sports News: Mumbai Indians' batsman Suryakumar Yadav has established a world record previously unattained in the history of T20 cricket. In a recent match against Punjab Kings, Surya not only displayed exceptional batting but also achieved a historic milestone, etching his name in the golden annals of cricket history.

A World First in T20 Cricket

Suryakumar Yadav has become the first batsman in T20 cricket history to score 25 or more runs in 14 consecutive innings. This record encompasses all T20 matches, including international games, franchise leagues, and domestic competitions. Previously, this record was held by South African batsman Temba Bavuma, who scored 25+ runs in 13 consecutive innings.

Remarkably, Suryakumar didn't achieve this record through large centuries or extensive innings. Instead, he consistently delivered impactful contributions in every match. While his scores might have been just above 25, his innings consistently played a crucial role in shaping the match's outcome.

Maintaining consistency in T20 cricket is exceptionally challenging, as the format demands an aggressive batting style. Therefore, achieving 25+ scores in 14 consecutive matches is a unique feat in the world of cricket.

Surpassing Temba Bavuma and Other Legends

With this record, Suryakumar Yadav not only surpassed Temba Bavuma but also outperformed prominent players like Brad Hogg, Jacques Rudolph, Kumar Sangakkara, Chris Lynn, and Kyle Myers, who each achieved 11 consecutive 25+ scores in their careers. Suryakumar Yadav's performance in IPL 2025 has been a boon for his team.

Despite Mumbai Indians' initially poor start to the season, Surya shifted gears mid-season, consistently delivering match-winning performances. He scored over 25 runs in all 14 league-stage matches. This consistent form earned him another record – the most consecutive innings with 25+ runs in IPL history, surpassing Kane Williamson (2018) and Shubman Gill (2023), who both achieved this feat in 13 consecutive innings.

Mumbai Indians' Top Run-Scorer of the Season

Suryakumar Yadav is also the highest run-scorer for Mumbai Indians in IPL 2025. He has amassed 614 runs in 14 matches at an average of 76.75, including four half-centuries. This performance not only propelled his team into the playoffs but also laid the foundation for victory in several crucial matches.
