Saurabh secured the bronze with a score of 219.1 points. The competition was held at the Las Palmas Shooting Complex. His performance showcases the consistent strengthening of Indian shooters on the global stage.
Close Contest with Chinese Shooter
In this event, China's Hu Kai delivered a stunning performance, winning the gold medal with a score of 246.4, just 0.1 points shy of a world record. Brazil's Olympian Felipe Almeida Wu secured the silver medal. In the qualification round, Saurabh Chaudhary finished fifth with a score of 578, while Varun Tomar qualified for the final in eighth place with 576 points. However, Varun couldn't handle the pressure in the final and missed out on a medal.
Impressive Comeback in Mixed Event
Earlier, at the ISSF World Cup in Buenos Aires, the pair of Saurabh and Suruchi showcased an excellent performance in the 10m air pistol mixed team event, defeating Manu Bhaker and Ravinder Singh 16-8 to win the bronze medal. Saurabh's decisive 10.7 score in the final series turned the tide in their favor.
Saurabh Chaudhary's medal is not only India's first in the Lima World Cup but also a significant indicator of preparations for the upcoming Olympics in 2028. He has already won gold medals at the Asian Games (2018) and the Youth Olympics, and is now becoming a symbol of India's b presence on the global stage.
