Good news for rail passengers! Mobile phone theft on trains is a common problem, causing significant distress. However, Indian Railways has launched a new feature to address this. Now, if your mobile phone is stolen during a train journey, you can easily track and block it. This facility is implemented through the Rail Madad app and the Sanchar Saathi portal.
Railway's New Feature: Immediate Solution for Mobile Theft
Indian Railways has introduced a new feature to help passengers track lost or stolen mobile phones. This initiative is a collaborative effort between the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), Railway Protection Force (RPF), and Indian Railways. Passengers can file a complaint about their lost or stolen mobile phone directly through the 'Rail Madad' app. This complaint is automatically transferred to the 'Sanchar Saathi' portal, where the phone will be blocked and tracking initiated.
Features Available on the Sanchar Saathi Portal
The Sanchar Saathi portal offers several helpful features, simplifying the process of locating a lost mobile phone.
• Blocking Facility: Anyone can report their lost or stolen mobile phone on the portal to block it and prevent misuse.
• Tracing and Recovery: After a mobile phone is reported stolen, the tracing and recovery process is initiated. Police and RPF receive the mobile's location information, accelerating the recovery process.
• Cybercrime Reporting: The portal also allows reporting of cybercrimes and digital fraud, strengthening security measures.
