Indian Stock Market Experiences Weak Week; Reliance Industries Leads Losses

The Indian stock market experienced a weak week. The BSE Sensex closed down 609.51 points, or 0.74%, while the NSE Nifty fell 166.65 points, or 0.66%. This decline impacted even the market's largest companies. Six of the top ten Sensex companies saw a combined market capitalization (MCap) decrease of ₹78,166.08 crore.

Reliance Industries suffered the most significant loss

Reliance Industries bore the brunt of the losses last week. The company's market capitalization decreased by ₹40,800.4 crore, settling at ₹19,30,339.56 crore. TCS, ICICI Bank, SBI, Infosys, and Hindustan Unilever also experienced declines in their market caps.

TCS: Decreased by ₹17,710.54 crore, reaching ₹12,71,395.95 crore.

Infosys: Decreased by ₹10,488.58 crore, reaching ₹6,49,876.91 crore.

HUL: Decreased by ₹5,462.8 crore, reaching ₹5,53,974.88 crore.

ICICI Bank: Decreased by ₹2,454.31 crore, reaching ₹10,33,868.01 crore.

SBI: Decreased by ₹1,249.45 crore, closing at ₹7,05,446.59 crore.

Companies showing market strength:

Bharti Airtel: Increased by ₹10,121.24 crore, reaching ₹10,44,682.72 crore.

Bajaj Finance: Increased by ₹4,548.87 crore, reaching ₹5,74,207.54 crore.

ITC: Increased by ₹875.99 crore, reaching ₹5,45,991.05 crore.

HDFC Bank: Increased by ₹399.93 crore, closing at ₹14,80,723.47 crore.

Reliance Industries maintains dominance

Despite the market downturn, Reliance Industries remains the largest company in the country. Following it in the top-10 list are HDFC Bank, TCS, Bharti Airtel, ICICI Bank, SBI, Infosys, Bajaj Finance, HUL, and ITC.

Last week's market volatility resulted in market cap declines for some companies and gains for others. Investors are advised to monitor market trends and make informed decisions based on thorough research. Caution is warranted given the current market conditions.
