While traveling to heaven, when, who, due to which sin among the five Pandavas fell down, know the wonderful secret
After the Mahabharata war, following the advice of Maharshi Ved Vyasa, the Pandavas, including Draupadi, decided to renounce their kingdom and ascend to heaven in their physical forms. Yudhishthira performed Parikshit's coronation. Afterwards, the Pandavas and Draupadi adorned themselves in the garb of ascetics and embarked on their journey to heaven. A dog accompanied the Pandavas. Driven by a desire to circumambulate the earth, the Pandavas began their journey towards the north. During their journey, they reached the Himalayas. After crossing the Himalayas, they encountered a sea of sand. Following this, they saw Mount Meru.
Draupadi died first
As the five Pandavas, Draupadi, and the dog were ascending Mount Meru, Draupadi stumbled and fell. Seeing Draupadi fall, Bhima questioned Yudhishthira, stating that Draupadi had never done anything wrong, so why did she fall? Yudhishthira replied that Draupadi loved Arjuna most among them, and this was the reason for her fall. Saying this, Yudhishthira proceeded without looking back.
Sahadev fell again
Shortly after Draupadi's fall, Sahadev also stumbled and fell. Bhima inquired about the reason for Sahadev's fall, to which Yudhishthira explained that Sahadev's downfall was due to his failure to consider anyone as wise as himself. This flaw led to his fall.
Nakula fell after this
Continuing their journey, Nakula also stumbled and fell behind Draupadi and Sahadev. When Bhima asked Yudhishthira the reason, Yudhishthira explained that Nakula was excessively proud of his beauty and considered no one as handsome as himself. Therefore, he suffered this consequence.
Arjun also fell after a while.
As Yudhishthira, Bhima, Arjuna, and the dog continued their journey, Arjuna fell after a while. Yudhishthira explained to Bhima that Arjuna was excessively proud of his prowess. He had boasted that he could single-handedly eliminate his enemies in a day, but this did not happen. It was due to his arrogance that Arjuna found himself in this situation. Having explained this, Yudhishthira moved on.
That's why Bhima died
As they proceeded further, Bhima also stumbled and fell. Bhima then called out to Yudhishthira, asking, "O King, if you know, please tell me the reason for my fall?" Yudhishthira replied, "You were overeating and falsely displaying your strength. Therefore, you had to fall to the earth today." Saying this, Yudhishthira moved on. Only the dog remained with him.
Yudhishthira went to heaven in body
As Yudhishthira moved a little further, Lord Indra himself arrived with his chariot to take him to heaven. Yudhishthira then requested Indra to make arrangements to take his brothers and Draupadi, who had fallen along the way, with him. Indra replied that they had already shed their mortal bodies and reached heaven, but Yudhishthira would ascend to heaven in his physical form.
Yamraj was in the form of a dog
Upon hearing Indra's words, Yudhishthira said that the dog was his most devoted follower. Therefore, he requested permission to take the dog with him to heaven. However, Indra refused this request. Despite Yudhishthira's prolonged persuasion and his refusal to go to heaven without the dog, Yamraj revealed himself in his true form as the dog (because the dog was actually Yamraj). Seeing Yudhishthira's devotion to dharma, Yamraj was very pleased. Afterward, Indra, the king of the gods, took Yudhishthira to heaven in his physical body.
