Rules for Lighting Akhand Jyot
It should burn throughout Navratri – The Akhand Jyot is lit from Pratipada to Navami or Dashami Tithi.
Establish it in a pure place – Placing the Akhand Jyot on wheat, barley, or rice is considered auspicious.
Mantra chanting is essential – While lighting the Akhand Jyot, chant the following mantra:
"Karoti kalyanam, Aarogyam Dhan Sampadam, Shatru Buddhi Vinaashay, Deepa Jyoti Namostute."
Don't leave it unattended – Extinguishing of the Akhand Jyot is considered inauspicious; therefore, never leave it unattended.
