The ninth day of Chaitra Navratri is dedicated to Goddess Siddhi-datri, considered the presiding deity of power and accomplishments. This year, Mahanavami falls on Sunday, April 6th, and devotees are offering prayers with utmost devotion to Mother Siddhi-datri on this auspicious occasion. Mother Siddhi-datri is considered the ninth form of Goddess Durga. She is seated on a lotus and is known as the bestower of all accomplishments. According to the Markandeya Purana, the eight Siddhis – Anima, Mahima, Garima, Laghima, Prapti, Prakamyam, Isitva, and Vashitva – are attained through her grace.
Lord Shiva also attained Siddhis through Mother Siddhi-datri's grace
According to religious beliefs, Lord Shiva also attained these eight Siddhis through the grace of Mother Siddhi-datri, and that is why he is known as Ardhanarishwar. This is why special worship of the Mother on Mahanavami grants the devotee spiritual strength and spiritual elevation.
Offer these beloved offerings to the Mother
On Mahanavami, Puri (fried bread), Chana (chickpeas), Halwa (sweet pudding), Kheer (rice pudding), seasonal fruits, and coconut are offered to Goddess Siddhi-datri. It is believed that these offerings are extremely dear to the Mother, and offering them fulfills desires.
