Causes of Constipation and Natural Remedies

A sluggish, lethargic, and tiring day often follows a poorly emptied stomach in the morning. Frequent gas issues can also cause discomfort. According to a survey, around 22 percent of Indians suffer from constipation. Ayurveda suggests this condition arises when the cold and dry qualities of Vata affect the large intestine, hindering its proper functioning.

Experiencing a day without complete bowel movement can be distressing and sometimes painful. Our modern, unhealthy lifestyle is a key contributor to this problem. Common causes include junk food consumption, alcohol, smoking, and overeating. Those affected often experience discomfort, inflammation, and uneasiness while trying to evacuate.

However, Ayurveda can be highly effective in alleviating constipation and making bowel movements regular and smooth.
