Trump's Tariff War: US President Donald Trump announced on Tuesday, March 4th, the imposition of a 25% tariff on goods imported from Mexico and Canada. Canada Imposes 25% Tariff on US Goods

Canada has decided to impose a 25% tariff on $155 billion worth of goods imported from the United States. These tariffs will be implemented in two phases. The first phase, involving a 30 billion dollar tariff, will come into effect after midnight on Tuesday, March 4th, with the remaining tariffs to be implemented within the following 21 days.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau bly condemned the US action, stating that these tariffs are detrimental to trade relations. He commented, "The US government's decision lacks any justification. Its impact will directly affect US citizens, leading to increased prices for gas, food, and automobiles."

Mexico Responds Strongly

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum responded on Monday, March 3rd, stating that Mexico is fully united and has prepared a plan to address this challenge. She said, "We are awaiting the Trump administration's decision, but we have developed our strategy. We will take whatever measures are necessary."

Mexico has strengthened border security to address major US concerns. This includes deploying 10,000 national guardsmen to the border to combat illegal immigration and drug trafficking.

Increased Pressure on China

US President Donald Trump also announced a doubling of tariffs on goods imported from China. The tariff on Chinese imports, previously 10%, has been increased to 20%. This move could further intensify the trade war between the United States and China.
