Despite immediate medical attention, the student, Rahul Lavery, succumbed to his injuries. Lavery was a third-year B.Sc. Mathematics and Computer Science student at IIT Patna and hailed from Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh. The unfortunate incident has cast a pall of sorrow over the institution.

Local police arrived at the scene and launched an investigation. Officers are questioning the student's friends and teachers to ascertain the possible reasons behind the suicide.
