Pak PM YouTube ban: Amidst escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif's YouTube channel has been blocked in India. The Indian government took this action, alleging that Sharif's channel spread inflammatory content against India.
The blocked YouTube channel now displays a message: "This content is unavailable in this country due to a government order related to national security or public order." Additionally, Pakistan's Information and Broadcasting Minister Attaullah Tarar's X (formerly Twitter) account has also been blocked in India.
Pakistani Minister Threatens Military Action Against India
On April 19th, during a press conference, Pakistan's Information Minister Attaullah Tarar claimed that Pakistan possessed intelligence indicating India might launch a military attack within the next 24 to 36 hours. He further stated that if India took any aggressive action against Pakistan, Pakistan would respond "decisively," holding India accountable. Following this statement, the Indian government blocked Tarar's social media accounts.
India Blocks Multiple Pakistani YouTube Channels
The Indian government previously blocked 16 Pakistani YouTube channels accused of spreading inflammatory and false content against India. Prominent channels like Dawn News, SAMAA TV, ARY News, Geo News, and BOL News were among those blocked. This action, taken on the recommendation of the Ministry of Home Affairs, aimed to curb the spread of inflammatory messages originating from Pakistan against India.
Social Media Accounts of Pakistani Actors Also Blocked
The Indian government has also blocked the social media accounts of several prominent Pakistani actors. This includes accounts belonging to Hania Amir, Mahira Khan, Ali Zafar, and Sajal Ali. These accounts were blocked following controversial comments regarding India's actions against Pakistan.
Terrorist Attack Kills 26
On April 22nd, a terrorist attack in the Baisaran Valley near Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, resulted in the deaths of 26 innocent people. The attackers targeted tourists based on their religion, fatally shooting those unable to recite the Muslim declaration of faith (Kalima).
Following the attack, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reacted bly, vowing to hunt down the terrorists.
