Amidst a sudden surge in military tension between India and Pakistan, the central government has convened a high-level strategic meeting. A crucial emergency review meeting, chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, is being held today. The meeting includes the chiefs of the three armed forces and the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS).
India-Pakistan Conflict: Pakistan attempted to target several Indian military bases, but the Indian Army successfully thwarted the attack. According to reports, Pakistan attempted to target military bases in Jammu, Pathankot, Firozpur, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, and Jaisalmer using fighter jets, drones, rockets, and missiles.
Given this serious situation, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will conduct a high-level review meeting concerning Operation Sindur and its aftermath. The nation's security situation is being closely monitored, and all relevant agencies have been instructed to remain vigilant.
Pakistani Attack Attempt Foiled, India Responds Decisively
On Thursday night, Pakistan made a daring attempt to target six major Indian military bases. Reports indicate that Pakistan planned to attack military bases in Jammu, Pathankot, Firozpur, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, and Jaisalmer using drones, missiles, rockets, and fighter jets. However, the vigilance and preparedness of the Indian Army and Air Force foiled this entire conspiracy.
The Indian Air Force not only destroyed enemy drones and missiles en route but also shot down four Pakistani fighter jets in retaliation. These included two American F-16s and two Chinese JF-17s.
Increased Tension in Pakistan Following Operation Sindur
On May 7th, India launched Operation Sindur, a major military operation against terrorists hiding across the Pakistani border. This operation targeted cross-border terrorist launch pads and hideouts. Since then, there has been a heightened sense of tension in Pakistan. Fueled by this tension, Pakistan attempted a retaliatory attack on India, but Indian security forces thwarted all their attempts.
Key Decisions Expected at Emergency Meeting
The review meeting called by Rajnath Singh may discuss the following points:
- Analysis of Pakistan's military actions and review of intelligence inputs
- India's retaliatory military strategy and future preparations
- Further strengthening of security arrangements in border areas
- Additional measures for the safety of civilian areas
- India's diplomatic response at the international level
- According to defense sources, the meeting may also consider deploying additional security forces in the Ladakh and Punjab sectors. Furthermore, all of India's air defense systems have been put on high alert.
Safety of Citizens and Soldiers Paramount
The Indian government has made it clear that it will not tolerate any aggressive actions and will ensure the country's sovereignty and the safety of its citizens at all costs. The army has been given full command to respond appropriately as needed. India has informed the United Nations, the United States, Russia, and other friendly countries about these Pakistani actions. The Ministry of External Affairs is presenting Pakistan's actions as a new instance of cross-border terrorism to the international community.
