A major terrorist attack occurred on Monday in the Sundarbani sector of Jammu and Kashmir. Terrorists opened fire on an army vehicle and subsequently escaped. Following the attack, security forces intensified search operations in the area.

Infiltration Attempt Behind the Attack?

Sources report that the attack took place around 12:45 PM on Monday while an army vehicle was on routine patrol. The terrorists fired 4-5 rounds and escaped under the cover of darkness. The army personnel did not have a chance to retaliate as the attack was extremely sudden. This area is located close to the Pakistan border, raising concerns that it may be part of a larger infiltration attempt.

Search Operation Underway Since Morning

A search operation by the army was already underway in the area where the attack occurred. This operation, initiated based on intelligence regarding terrorist activity, was ongoing when the army patrol came under attack. Following the attack, the entire Sundarbani area has been cordoned off by the army, and a high-level search operation is underway. Due to the proximity to the Line of Control (LOC), police have not been allowed access, and the operation remains entirely under the army's control.

While the army has not yet officially confirmed the attack, preliminary investigations suggest that it may not have been a deliberate attack, but rather accidental gunfire during the movement of the army vehicle.

Indian Army Kills 7 Infiltrators on February 7th

Earlier, on February 7th, the Indian Army killed seven terrorists attempting to infiltrate from Pakistan in the Poonch area of Jammu and Kashmir. Two to three of them may have been Pakistani soldiers, while the others are suspected to be members of the Al-Badr group, a terrorist organization supported by Pakistan and attempting to spread violence within Indian territory.
