Opposition Protests Presentation of JPC Report on Wakf (Amendment) Bill in Parliament.

Parliament Budget Session: The report of the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) considering the Wakf (Amendment) Bill was tabled in the Rajya Sabha on Thursday. The report was presented by Medha Kulkarni. Immediately following its presentation, opposition members staged a b protest.

Opposition Objects to Removal of Dissenting Notes

Opposition members alleged that dissenting notes submitted by opposition MPs had been removed from the JPC report, characterizing this as unconstitutional. Tiruchi Siva stated that dissenting notes reflecting committee members' disagreements should be part of the report but were excluded, constituting a violation of parliamentary rules.

Kharge Calls the Report "Fake"

Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, Mallikarjun Kharge, bly objected to the bill, terming the report "fake" and alleging that the opinions of MPs had been suppressed. Kharge demanded that the report be sent back to the JPC for reconsideration and urged J.P. Nadda to take necessary action. He asserted that the opposition's dissent had been disregarded.

Removal of Dissenting Notes Deemed Undemocratic: Kharge

Kharge stated that several opposition MPs had submitted dissenting notes on the Wakf Bill, but these had been removed from the parliamentary proceedings, a process he described as completely undemocratic. He accused the government of acting arbitrarily and attempting to suppress the opposition's voice.

Demand to Resubmit the JPC Report

Kharge stated, "Mr. J.P. Nadda listens to senior leaders and is influenced by them. He should send this report back to the JPC and present it again constitutionally." He appealed to Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar to reject the report and instruct its resubmission in an amended form.

J.P. Nadda's Rebuttal

Responding to Kharge's accusations, BJP president J.P. Nadda accused the Congress of engaging in appeasement politics. He maintained that the opposition had been given ample opportunity to discuss their concerns in Parliament, but their aim was not discussion, but rather political maneuvering.

'Congress Siding with Anti-Nationals' - J.P. Nadda

J.P. Nadda asserted that the Minister of Parliamentary Affairs had clarified that nothing had been deleted from the report and all points remained. He attacked the Congress, claiming that some individuals were attempting to destabilize the nation and the Congress was strengthening their hand. He stated that the government was working with complete transparency, and the opposition was merely trying to gain political advantage.
