Jammu-Kashmir: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today inaugurated the 6.5-kilometer Z-Morh Tunnel on the Srinagar-Kargil-Leh highway in Sonamarg, Jammu and Kashmir. Located at an altitude of 8,650 feet above sea level, this tunnel will significantly improve road connectivity in Jammu and Kashmir. The inauguration ceremony was attended by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, and Dr. Jitendra Singh.
CM Omar Abdullah praises PM Modi
Addressing a public gathering after the tunnel inauguration, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He noted that PM Modi had ensured fair and free elections in Jammu and Kashmir, fostering a secure and impartial environment in the state. He also expressed confidence in PM Modi fulfilling his promise to grant statehood to Jammu and Kashmir, and remembered the soldiers who sacrificed their lives in the Gagangir attack.
LG Manoj Sinha discusses Jammu and Kashmir's progress
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, praising Prime Minister Modi, stated that he had steered Kashmir towards a path of development, working towards transforming it into a true "paradise." He asserted that discussions surrounding Jammu and Kashmir now revolve around tourism, rather than terrorism. Sinha also highlighted that PM Modi had visited the state three times, launching development projects worth ₹41,000 crore.
