New Delhi. Following the extradition of Tahawwur Rana, accused in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, from the United States to India, political activity has intensified. While the government is presenting it as a major diplomatic victory, the opposition is linking it to the election agenda.
Raut Says: Rana Will Be Hanged During Bihar Elections
Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut, in a conversation with ANI, stated that Tahawwur Rana should be hanged immediately, but the central government is linking it to the upcoming Bihar Elections. He claims Rana will be executed during the elections to utilize the issue as a vote bank.
No Politics of Credit Should Be Played: Raut
Raut also said that the extradition process of Tahawwur Rana began during the UPA government, so there should be no politics of taking credit for it. He recalled that Abu Salem, convicted in the 1993 Mumbai blasts, was also extradited earlier.
Kanhaiya Kumar Calls it an 'Election Stunt, Not Diplomatic Success'
Congress leader Kanhaiya Kumar refused to consider Rana's extradition a diplomatic success, stating it's a BJP strategy to divert attention from real issues like inflation and unemployment. He termed it a political stunt.
Tahawwur Rana in NIA Custody
Brought to India on Thursday evening, Tahawwur Rana was taken directly from the airport to Delhi's Patiala House Court, which remanded him to 18 days of NIA custody. Rana is currently at the NIA headquarters, where questioning regarding terror plots continues.
