Six Killed in Bus Accident on Pauri-Satya Khal Motor Road

Uttarakhand: A tragic bus accident on the Pauri-Satya Khal motor road claimed the lives of six people, including a couple and a mother-son duo from the same village. The bus, en route from Pauri to Delchouri, met with the accident. Local residents immediately initiated rescue efforts, followed by the arrival of police and administrative teams. Pauri District Magistrate Dr. Ashish Chauhan assessed the situation and directed the acceleration of relief operations.

Accident Occurred at Around 3 PM

The accident, occurring around 3 PM, took place between Kyark and Chuldhar on the Pauri-Satya Khal motor road. The bus veered off the road and plunged into a deep ravine. The screams of passengers triggered a swift response from local villagers, who launched a rescue operation and began transporting the injured to hospitals using personal vehicles.

Details of the Deceased and Injured

Five people succumbed to their injuries at the accident site, while 22 others were injured. After receiving initial treatment, the injured were referred to the Base Hospital in Srinagar. Unfortunately, one more victim succumbed during treatment. The deceased are:

Sunita (25), wife of Narendra, from Dobha village. Premila, wife of Prakash, from Kesuander village. Priyanshu (17), son of Prakash, from Kesuander village. Nagendra, from Kesuander village. Sulochana, wife of Nagendra, from Kesuander village. Prem Singh.

Hospital Facilities Concerns

Upon arrival at the district hospital, the injured faced logistical challenges. The small emergency ward lacked adequate facilities. Power outages also occurred, which were rectified after the District Magistrate's complaint. The 108 ambulances and other rescue resources arrived late.

DM Visits the Accident Site

District Magistrate Dr. Ashish Chauhan visited the accident site, assessed the situation, and provided instructions to the police and administration. Tehsildar Pauri Divan Singh Rana and Kotwal Pauri Amarjeet Singh were also present at the scene. The Chief Development Officer (CDO) Girish Gunvant and SDM Deepak Ramchandra Seth oversaw the arrangements at the district hospital.

Bus Documents Found Valid

The Regional Transport Officer (RTO), Dwarika Prasad, confirmed that the documents of the accident-involved bus, including permits, taxes, fitness, and insurance, were valid. Preliminary investigations suggest the cause of the accident was vehicle instability. The 30-seater bus was not overloaded.

Local Support for Rescue Operations

Local leaders and villagers, including AICC member Rajpal Bist, former District Panchayat member Sanjay Dabral, Congress District President Vinod Negi, and others, rushed to the accident site to assist in the rescue efforts.

Relief and Rescue Efforts

Five 108 ambulances and four other vehicles were deployed for the rescue operation. The administration made special arrangements for the treatment of the injured at the district hospital.

The administration appealed to all citizens to exercise caution and drive safely on the motor road. They also expressed hope for the speedy recovery of the injured.
