Bad news has emerged for the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. Young fast bowler Mayank Yadav will miss the first half of the tournament due to injury.

Sports News: The 18th edition of IPL 2025 is set to begin on March 22nd, and all teams are busy with their preparations. However, the Lucknow Super Giants have suffered a major setback before the tournament even starts. Team's young fast bowler, Mayank Yadav, has yet to fully recover from his injury, making it almost certain that he will miss the first half of IPL 2025. However, it is expected that he may return in the second half of the tournament and play a crucial role for his team.

Back Injury Poses a Major Problem

Mayank Yadav sustained a lower back injury after his international debut against Bangladesh last year. He has been undergoing rehabilitation for a long time to recover from this injury and recently started bowling practice at the Bengaluru-based Center of Excellence. However, the BCCI has not set a definite date for his return. His return will only be possible after passing fitness tests and completing workload management.

LSG Offered an 11 Crore Contract

Mayank Yadav's pace was a talking point in IPL 2024. He set a record for the fastest ball in the tournament, bowling at 156.7 km/h. LSG, recognizing his ability, retained him for ₹11 crore before this year's auction, a significant increase from the ₹20 lakh they paid for him last season.

Impressive Performance in IPL 2024

Last season, Mayank Yadav took 7 wickets in 4 matches, with an economy rate of 6.99. His pace and aggression troubled many batsmen. The team expected an even better performance from him this year, but his injury is a major blow to LSG's fast bowling attack.
