A sage named Dev Sharma lived in a village. He kept his wealth hidden in a bag, always carrying it with him. One day, a deceitful man noticed the bag. He approached the sage, saying, "Om Namah Shivay! Guruji, please take me under your protection and safeguard me."
Dev Sharma accepted him as a disciple but remained wary of the man regarding the bag. However, the deceitful man soon gained the sage's trust through flattery and smooth talk. One day, the sage stopped by a river to bathe. He entrusted his clothes and the bag to his disciple. When he returned, he found his clothes on the ground, but both the bag and the disciple were gone. The sage realized that his disciple had run away with his money.
Moral of the Story
This story teaches us to always be wary of flatterers.
