Here's a famous and inspiring story, where everyone thinks alike
Once, Emperor Akbar was holding a discussion in his court on a particular topic. He sought opinions from everyone present in the royal court. In response, each minister presented their perspective, based on their wisdom. The emperor was surprised to see that everyone's response was completely different from the others. Intrigued by this disparity, Emperor Akbar asked Birbal, "Why don't everyone think alike?"
Birbal, smiling, replied, "Your Majesty, while opinions can differ on many matters, on certain specific topics, everyone's thinking aligns." With this statement, the discussion concluded, and everyone returned to their duties.
That evening, Emperor Akbar, pondering the same question, strolled with Birbal in his garden. "Birbal, I asked you why everyone doesn't think alike. Explain to me," the emperor repeated the question, sparking another debate between the two. Despite numerous attempts, Emperor Akbar couldn't grasp Birbal's point. To clarify his stance, Birbal proposed a solution, saying, "Your Majesty, I will prove to you that on certain issues, everyone does indeed think alike. Simply issue a decree. In the decree, it will be stated that on the coming Amavasya night, everyone must bring a pitcher of milk from their homes and pour it into the dry wells in their gardens. Those who disobey will face severe punishment."
Initially, Emperor Akbar found Birbal's suggestion foolish, but he proceeded to issue the royal decree as advised. Soldiers were dispatched throughout the kingdom to announce the order. Upon hearing the decree, people began discussing its absurdity, yet, due to the emperor's command, they complied. Everyone eagerly awaited the Amavasya night.
As the Amavasya night arrived, everyone gathered at the dry wells, carrying pitchers of milk. They poured the milk into the wells and returned home. Unaware of the crowd, Emperor Akbar and Birbal observed the scene from afar. Once everyone had emptied their pitchers and departed, Birbal led the Emperor closer to the wells and pointed, "Your Majesty, see that the wells are not filled with milk, but with water. People thought that pouring milk into the wells was foolish. So they replaced it with water. They also assumed that on a moonless night, the darkness would conceal whether a pitcher contained milk or water. Therefore, it is clear that on certain matters, everyone thinks alike."
Finally, Emperor Akbar understood Birbal's point completely.
The lesson from this story is that - when faced with a similar situation, everyone's thinking aligns.
