The Clever Rooster

A rooster resided in a dense forest, atop a tree. He would wake up every morning before sunrise. After waking, he would venture into the forest to forage for grains and water, returning before nightfall. A cunning fox also inhabited the same forest. She would observe the rooster daily, thinking, "What a magnificent and sizable rooster. If I could catch him, he would make a delicious meal." However, the rooster always evaded her grasp. One day, the fox devised a plan to capture the rooster. She approached the tree where the rooster lived and said, "Oh, rooster brother! Have you heard the good news? The king of the forest and our elders have decided to end all conflicts. From now on, no animal will harm another. Come down, let us greet each other in celebration."

Upon hearing this, the rooster smiled and looked at the fox. "Oh, fox sister, that's wonderful news. Look behind you; perhaps some of our friends are coming to see us." The fox, surprised, asked, "Friends? Which friends?" The rooster replied, "Why, the hunting dogs; aren't they our friends now?" At the mention of dogs, the fox bolted in the opposite direction, disappearing in a flash. The rooster chuckled, "Oh, fox sister, where are you running? We're all friends now, aren't we?" The fox replied, "Yes, friends, but perhaps the hunting dogs haven't received this news yet." Saying this, she fled, and the rooster's intelligence saved his life.

The moral of this story is - one should not readily trust everything they hear and should always be wary of cunning individuals.
