The Foolish Goats: A Famous and Inspiring Tale

Two goats lived in a forest, grazing in different parts of the woodland. A river flowed through the forest, with a very narrow bridge spanning it. Only one animal could cross the bridge at a time. One day, while grazing, both goats reached the river. They both wished to cross to the other side of the forest. Both goats found themselves on the river bridge simultaneously.

Due to the narrowness of the bridge, only one goat could cross at a time. However, neither was willing to yield. One goat said, "Listen, let me cross first, then you can cross." The other goat responded, "No, let me cross first, and then you can." Their argument continued until they reached the middle of the bridge. They could not agree.

A dispute ensued. The first goat argued, "I arrived on the bridge first, therefore I will cross first." The second goat retorted, "No, I arrived first, so I will cross first." The argument escalated. The goats completely forgot about the narrow bridge they were standing on. In their quarrel, both goats tumbled into the river. The river was deep and swift, and both goats drowned.

The Lesson from this Story - Disputes never lead to solutions; instead, they cause everyone involved harm. In such situations, one must use a calm mind.
