A Famous and Inspiring Story: The Lion and the Jackal
Once upon a time, in the beautiful Sundarbans forest, lived a powerful lion. Every day, the lion would venture to the riverbank to hunt. One day, as the lion was returning from the riverbank, he saw a jackal on his path. As soon as the lion approached the jackal, the jackal lay down at the lion's feet. The lion asked, "Brother, what are you doing?" The jackal replied, "You are magnificent; you are the king of the jungle. Please make me your servant. I will serve you with complete devotion and loyalty. In return, I will eat whatever remains of your hunt." The lion agreed and made the jackal his servant. Now, whenever the lion went hunting, the jackal would accompany him. Through spending time together, a b friendship developed between them. The jackal, by consuming the lion's leftover prey, grew ber.
One day, the jackal said to the lion, "I am now as b as you. Today, I will attack an elephant. When I kill it, I will eat the elephant's meat. You can have whatever is left." The lion thought the jackal was joking in friendship, but the jackal had become overly proud of his strength. The jackal climbed a tree and waited for the elephant. The lion knew the elephant's strength, and tried to reason with the jackal, but the jackal wouldn't listen. Suddenly, an elephant passed beneath the tree. The jackal leaped at the elephant, but his leap was off-target and he fell beneath the elephant's feet. As the elephant moved its foot, the jackal was crushed. In this way, the jackal, by disregarding his friend's advice, made a grave mistake and lost his life.
This story teaches us: We should never be proud of anything, and we should never disrespect our true friends.
