The Famous and Inspiring Story of the Sparrow and the Arrogant Elephant
A bird lived with her mate in a tree. The bird spent her days tending to her eggs in their nest, while her mate diligently sought food. They were both very happy, eagerly awaiting the hatching of their young. One day, while the bird's mate was foraging for food, a boastful elephant lumbered along, breaking branches of the tree. The elephant's actions caused the bird's nest to collapse, shattering all the eggs inside. The bird was heartbroken and furious at the elephant. When the bird's mate returned, she recounted the incident, her voice filled with anguish. Her mate, equally distressed, resolved to teach the arrogant elephant a lesson.
The pair sought the counsel of a wise-cracking friend, a magpie. The magpie declared that the elephant deserved a lesson. The magpie had two other friends – a bee and a frog – and together they devised a plan that the bird found acceptable. Their strategy involved the bee buzzing around the elephant's ears, lulling it into a state of obliviousness. Then, the magpie quickly pecked out the elephant's eyes. The elephant cried out in pain. Hearing the commotion, a frog and his family arrived, splashing in a nearby marshland. Mistaking the sound for a pond, the elephant rushed toward the marshland, sinking deep into the muddy mire. In this way, the sparrow, with the help of the bee, magpie, and frog, took revenge on the elephant.
