Speculation surrounding Google's upcoming flagship smartphone series, the Pixel 10, is intensifying. Following leaks regarding design and battery specifications, key details about its camera system have now surfaced online. Reports suggest the company may utilize smaller camera sensors in some models, a significant departure from previous iterations.

Smaller Sensor in Pixel 10: A Major Camera Shift

Leaks indicate the Google Pixel 10 may feature a 1/1.95-inch Samsung GN8 50MP sensor, previously used in the Pixel 9a. This suggests a step back in camera sensor technology, contrary to expectations of enhanced features.

Furthermore, the ultrawide camera is also expected to undergo a substantial change. According to Android Authority, Google will reportedly use a 13MP Sony IMX712 sensor (1/3.1-inch), compared to the previous 50MP Sony IMX858 sensor. This shift could potentially impact ultrawide photography quality.

Pixel 10 Pro and 10 Pro XL May Feature Powerful Camera Setups

The Pixel 10 Pro models are expected to boast superior camera setups. Leaked reports suggest the Pixel 10 Pro and 10 Pro XL will incorporate a 1.31-inch Samsung GNV 50MP sensor. The company may retain the previous 50MP IMX858 sensor for the ultrawide camera.

Both the telephoto and front cameras are likely to feature an 11MP Samsung 3J1 sensor, also used in the Pixel 9. This indicates Google's increased focus on the Pro variants.

Pixel 10 Pro Fold to Also Feature GN8 Sensor

Google's foldable phone, the Pixel 10 Pro Fold, is also generating considerable interest. Reports suggest it will also utilize the same 1/1.95-inch Samsung GN8 50MP sensor found in the standard Pixel 10. This implies minimal camera sensor differentiation between the foldable and non-foldable versions.

Series Expected to Include New Tensor G5 Chipset and 16GB RAM

The Google Pixel 10 series is expected to feature Google's new Tensor G5 chipset, built on 3nm process technology. The series is also rumored to offer up to 16GB of RAM. Furthermore, the camera will reportedly record 4K video at 60fps with HDR support.

Official Announcement Imminent

Google launched the Pixel 9 series in August, earlier than its typical launch timeline. A similar early release is anticipated for the Pixel 10 series, especially considering Android 16's projected June release. While Google hasn't officially commented on the Pixel 10 series, leaks and certifications suggest an official announcement is imminent.
