Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan' Flops on Day 1: Shanaya Kapoor's Debut Stumbles at the Box Office

Vikrant Massey and Shanaya Kapoor's romantic drama film 'Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan' was released in theaters this Friday. Shanaya made her Bollywood debut with this film, while Vikrant Massey appeared on the big screen once again after his previous successful project '12th Fail'.

Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan Box Office Day 1: Shanaya Kapoor's debut film 'Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan', which marked her entry into Bollywood, proved to be a flop on the first day at the box office. She was seen alongside actor Vikrant Massey in this film, whose previous film '12th Fail' had garnered a lot of appreciation. But despite this, 'Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan' failed to attract audiences to the theaters.

Film's Box Office Day 1 Collection: Much Lower Than Expected

On the first day of its release in theaters, 'Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan' earned only 35 lakh rupees. This figure has emerged from the early trend report of Sacnilk. This collection is quite disappointing for the film, especially when the film's budget is reported to be around 50 crore rupees. The film not only failed to capture the interest of the audience, but also completely failed to establish itself against Rajkummar Rao's film 'Malik' and the highly anticipated Hollywood release 'Superman'.

Clash Diminishes Shine

'Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan' suffered from its release alongside Rajkummar Rao's gangster drama film 'Malik'. While 'Malik' had a b opening of 3.35 crore rupees on the first day, this romantic film of Vikrant and Shanaya could not even reach the 1 crore mark. Amidst such a large release on a crowded weekend, a new pair's romantic story did not get screen space and audience love.

'Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan' is directed by Santosh Singh and written by Mansi Bagla. The film is based on Ruskin Bond's famous short story "The Eyes Have It". The story of the film begins during a train journey, where a blind musician (Vikrant Massey) and a theater artist (Shanaya Kapoor) meet.

Gradually, this meeting turns into an emotional connection. The film has sensitivity, but its slow pace and lack of emotional depth failed to keep the audience engaged.

Shanaya Kapoor's Debut Disappoints

Shanaya Kapoor, who is the daughter of actor Sanjay Kapoor and is associated with Karan Johar's production house, was making her debut in Bollywood with this film. But due to a weak story, lack of depth in the script, and a heavy clash, this debut did not live up to expectations. Vikrant Massey, who recently won hearts with his powerful acting in '12th Fail', is also playing an emotional character in this film. Although his acting is being appreciated, his efforts failed to make an impact due to the weak screenplay and mismatched editing.

Now, all eyes are on the film's performance over the weekend. If the film picks up some speed on Saturday and Sunday, then perhaps its loss can be reduced to some extent. But after the poor start on the first day, expectations are very low.
