To control recurring traffic congestion and disorder in Shahkund market, the administration conducted a special vehicle-checking drive. During the operation, two-wheelers and four-wheelers were thoroughly inspected, and fines were issued for violations including not wearing helmets, absence of valid driving licences, and incomplete vehicle registration and other documents, resulting in a total fine collection of Rs 9,000.
According to officials, daily traffic jams in Shahkund market had been causing difficulties for the general public, particularly school-going children, elderly persons, and patients. In response, a joint team of the traffic police and local administration initiated vehicle checks at major intersections and congested areas of the market.
During the checks, several two-wheeler riders were found without helmets, while some drivers did not possess valid driving licences. In some cases, vehicle registration and insurance documents were also found to be incomplete. Challans were issued on the spot against violators, and strict warnings were given to some drivers with instructions to comply with traffic rules in the future.
Officials stated that the drive was conducted not only to collect fines but also to increase public awareness about traffic regulations. They said that illegal parking and disregard for traffic rules in the market area had been worsening congestion, making regular checks and strict enforcement necessary.
The administration clarified that vehicle-checking drives will continue in Shahkund and surrounding areas in the coming days. Drivers have been urged to wear helmets, carry all required documents, and follow traffic rules to avoid penalties and help prevent road accidents.
